SoftStep sudden failure

I've been successfully using the softstep for years without a glitch. Suddenly today utter failure. No messages are coming through to loopy, no program change messages are being read in order to program any new commands. Any suggestions? I didn't change anything but suddenly no communication between the midi pedal and Loopy. yes, the command input is clicked
