Frustration - is making music with iPad really possible?

Sorry for a long text, but i am frustrated. Yesterday I tried again to make music with the iPad. Loopy should replace my Boss RC 300, the big battleship. But once again there were errors and problems. I use Loopy together with an Alesis iODock2, no other app running. Guitar purely in the iODock and line out into the PA. In addition, Midi-Out to a DR 3 Drum Machine. 1. Error: Loopy records the guitar, the guitar and the recorded loop can not be heard (monitoring is on, everything as it shall be). The running loopy metronome is however to hear. This proofs that the audio link to iODock is available. With loopy still running, I pull off the cable to the iODock, and the loop can be heard through the internal speaker iPad. 2. Error: loopy sends the midi clock suddenly at double speed. 100 bpm 200 bpm - the drum machine rages furiously… One solution (not always working): Stop and restart the app. It would be nice if I could solve all these and other errors, but this is not possible. Sometimes they are suddenly there, sometimes not. I have bought a lot of apps: loopy , DM1, Funkbox , tone stack , Harmony Voice , Ampkit and many others. They are full of good ideas, but they are only 50-75 % effective. I fear using them live.

But how shall it work ? The hardware (an iPad ) costs 400 EUR, fantastic apps only 1- 10 EUR! My Mac Pro 2 x 2.4 Quad - Core has cost EUR 4,000, and programs cost hundreds of EUR ... but THEY WORK. I have worked for almost 30 years on the computer and powerful hardware and programs have always been expensive. I have been doing over 40 years of music and good amps and effects were always expensive.  How can it be, that all these things shall be possible for a few euros now?

So I have to accept that an iPad is just an enlarged iPhone. In essence, therefore, a telephone with Internet to go and a touch screen. And a toy to have fun with. Or my organizer for chord-Sheets (forScore), but I don't want to waste any more time with complicated music apps and wait further development.
